For over eleven years now, we’ve been funding sunscreen across our community.
In fact, over the last two years, we’ve provided more than 1,500L of sunscreen to our community for FREE.
We provide this free resource to local schools, pools, community groups, local events, and kindy’s across our region like Bindarra Daycare.
Our Sunscreen Program helps protect our community from the harmful effects of unprotected sun exposure whilst being active outdoors since Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.
Did you know, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70?!
We all know that sunscreen use is important in protecting from the sun, but it’s just one of five very important ways to reduce the risk of skin cancer – don’t forget to seek shade and wear long-sleeved shirts, and sunnies.
Sunscreen should always be reapplied at least every two hours
We’ve made our sunscreen dispensers highly visible and engaging making it easier for everybody to remember to apply – you can’t miss it!
Our biggest tips for sun protection:
- Get into a routine of putting sunscreen on before you even leave the house.
- Bring a small bottle of sunscreen with you when you’re outdoors and reapply throughout the day.
If all else fails, you won’t be able to miss our sunscreen stands and trailers across our community.
The next big event we’re supporting with our free sunscreen trailers will be Ipswich 100, the family-friendly cycle event held on Sunday, March 14.
Every year, we partner up with Ipswich 100 and all the proceeds we receive from this charity bike ride are used to fund our sunscreen program throughout the year.
Ps, registration for Ipswich 100 bike ride is now open at www.ipswich100.com.au
