Thanks to kind donations from West Moreton businesses and Ipswich Hospital Foundation volunteers, the halls are officially decked with Christmas lights to brighten children’s stay.
Ipswich Hospital’s Sunshine Ward, Paediatrics Emergency Department and Child Health Clinic at the Ipswich Health Plaza now sparkle with Christmas lights and festive decorations.
Our cheery volunteers, Joanne and Murray were the Mr and Mrs Clause of Christmas in the wards (so to speak) who had the pleasure of installing the Christmas Lights in the Hospital.
Volunteer, Joanne said, “the patients are so happy to see us back in the Hospital after our break from the Covid-19 restrictions.
“It makes us feel so good and very thankful we can celebrate Christmas this year.
It’s the small things like Christmas Lights that make the real difference to the patient experience while staying in Hospital
“One little patient looked up while we were hanging the lights and her face just lit up. It’s so lovely to see the Children’s eye’s light up when they see the colorful lights.
“It’s so beautiful to add a little Christmas Sparkle to a patient’s stay when they’re not feeling well and should be at home with their families,” Joanne said.
The Christmas cheer could not have been completed without the kind donations from Bunnings outlets at Bundamba, Springfield and West Ipswich.
Bunnings Warehouse West Ipswich Activities Officer, Theresa had the pleasure of decorating the wards last year and was so excited to be back on board with the other stores to bring the Christmas Spirit.
Theresa said, “our Team love hearing the impact we have on our community.
“It’s been a tough year for all, and it gives some joy to be able to give back to our local community.
“We’re all about community and making a difference where we can,” Theresa said.
The patient experience improvements are not stopping there either.
Our Christmas Care Appeal is fundraising for new fold-down chairs by children’s beds to ensure parents get a good night’s sleep.
